Pat LaStrapes, MBA, Board of Directors
Pat LaStrapes is a social entrepreneur with a concentration in renewable energy, clean technologies, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Pat’s 35-year background includes roles as Vice Chairman of World LNG Fuels and President of Zeus Intelligence. He also held senior management roles with WPL Holdings/Alliant Energy and Texas-Ohio Companies. Currently, he serves on the board of advisors of Enovation Partners, a select team of top-tier management consultants, where he bolsters the firm’s expertise in sustainable energy development and rapid reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the human footprint on the global carbon cycle. He also serves on the board of advisors of Quaint Global Energy Solutions, a developer of clean energy technologies that was recently named by Forbes as one of five cleantech companies to watch in Africa. Pat’s work underscores a commitment to developing realistic pathways to a holistic, sustainable and life-enriching planetary future, one that nurtures symbiosis and develops alternatives to exploitation and extraction.
Philanthropically, Pat expands his focus on life on earth. He has personally cultivated thousands of saplings for reforestation initiatives in urban areas around Houston. He has also led fundraising efforts and supported programs that facilitate a better understanding of interspecies relationships and the importance of nonhuman animals in our daily lives – as family members, in our societies, and in the wild. He works with animal sanctuaries for senior dogs and cats (and other species) and with nonprofits striving to improve conditions among animal shelters. He also supports initiatives that assist with transitioning animal exhibitions to sanctuary environments that can enrich the lives of captive animals and foster greater understanding about wildlife, their social relationships, natural habitats, and their role in maintaining ecological balance.
Pat is also a collector, lecturer and specialist of rare and fine wines, and serves as a tasting-panel judge in international competition. A Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW), Pat also holds the French Wine Scholar (FWS) post nominal designation (with highest honors) conferred by the French Wine Society under the endorsement of the French National Wine Office, and the WSET Certified Advanced post nominal designation (with distinction), from the London-based Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), the world’s foremost international certification body in the field of wine and spirits. Pat’s particular interests are on the role of family cultures that reach far into the past, and the latest developments in organic/vegan, biodynamic and sustainable winegrowing practices around the globe.
Pat lives in Houston with his wife, Noeleen (who was a principal dancer with the former PACT Ballet), their three dogs (Mollie, Jed and Othello) and three cats (Lily, Ollie and Max).
