Heather Fraser, Ph.D., Advisor

Heather is an Associate Professor in Social Work and Master of Social Work Course Coordinator at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Queensland. She has been a critical social worker since the 1980s, starting her career in women’s refuges and youth shelters. Heather has a longstanding interest in love and abuse, and has widely published in the areas of domestic violence, feminist and anti-oppressive social work practice, social work education, and in the last decade, human and critical-animal studies.

Specialties: companion animals, and companion animals as victims/survivors of domestic violence; humane empathy programs; animals in social work; climate change, speciesism and veganism.
